Table of Contents ~ More Modern Love
  IV. Two Hearts
  Their hearts are not stone where bodies are,
Where feathers fly no more, but toss like flags.
Turquoise, bone, the strew of emblematic
Prayer says, "Take me. Use me," and far
From us, a child walks by a lake.
Your heart takes wing from ecstatic
Love to touch a dimpled elbow. Sags
The bouyant float of freedom then;
The cares of mothers ground our love again:
Ground like bedrock can a strong house make,
Ground like basses' notes the higher music
Found, like basses fix the music and not mar
The harmonies of tenor, treble sound, but are
To lover's ears completion, wholer physic.
