Jean-Léon Gerôme's The Slave Market (1882, I think), is a favorite of mine by a favorite Orientalist. (See the original and more at Rick Fink's Orientalist Art of the Nineteenth Century.) I created this image, weaving three Poser figures into the scene, to illustrate my essay, "The Rights of the Virtual."
